Recently, speculation arose about a partnership between Square Enix and Tencent aimed at developing a mobile edition of the hugely popular MMORPG Final Fantasy 14. Although an official announcement has yet to surface, fresh support for these claims has emerged.

Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad highlighted an important update on Twitter about the National Press and Publication Administration of China. They have officially authorized a new collection of games for release, which intriguingly includes a mobile adaptation of Final Fantasy 14, reported to be named Final Fantasy 14: Crystal World.

According to Ahmad, the project is being crafted by Tencent’s Lightspeed Studios and will function as an independent MMORPG, distinct from the existing Final Fantasy 14 experience.

While Square Enix has not confirmed the development of a mobile version yet, it seems likely that with these recent advancements, an official announcement may be forthcoming soon.
