GTA 6: Everything Rockstar Has Actually Confirmed

Rockstar has published perhaps two thousand words about GTA 6 in three years. Here is all of it, sorted — and, separately, the much longer list of things the internet reports as confirmed that nobody at Rockstar has ever said.

Still from the official Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look presentation
Rockstar’s own gameplay presentation, 27 August 2026. Almost everything anyone knows about GTA 6 comes from this and two trailers — and from press watching them closely.

How this page works, and why it is shorter than you expect

Rockstar’s total published prose about GTA 6 amounts to roughly: one premise paragraph, a pre-order press release, eight character blurbs, one line about how the gameplay video was captured, and an apology for the delays. That is close to all of it. Everything else in circulation — including a lot of things written as “Rockstar confirmed” — is journalists describing what they saw in footage, or an analyst’s estimate, or somebody’s guess.

So this page separates the two. Section 01 is what Rockstar and Take-Two have actually published. Section 05 is the list of things reported as confirmed that are not.

The premise, in Rockstar’s words: “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

The characters Rockstar has named

Eight from the official site and Trailer 2. The descriptions are Rockstar’s own.

Voice cast: Rockstar has confirmed nobody

Not a single voice actor has been announced. The only cast information that exists anywhere is Stephen Root confirming to the Associated Press on 14 September 2026 that he voices Brian Heder — “Yeeaahhh, you’re gonna see me in that.” That is the actor’s word, not Rockstar’s. Every full cast list you find is fan speculation.

Two delays, and what Rockstar said each time

  • 4 December 2023 — announced with Trailer 1, window given as 2025
  • 17 May 2024 — narrowed to Fall 2025 on Take-Two’s earnings call
  • 2 May 2025 — first delay, moved to 26 May 2026
  • 6 November 2025 — second delay, moved to 19 November 2026
  • February, May and June 2026 — Take-Two reaffirms the date three separate times

Rockstar’s statement on the second delay is, word for word, the only thing the company has ever said about what the extra time was for: “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick in May 2026: “I think reiterating November 19 as a launch day today is probably a positive.” In August he called pre-orders “unprecedented” and “astonishing” while adding “we are realistic and, at best, cautiously optimistic” and “we’re allergic to victory laps.” No pre-order numbers have been disclosed.

What is known about the game itself

Still from Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2
Trailer 2, May 2025. It launched the official site and the character roster — still the single largest release of official information about the game.

Nearly everything in this section comes from Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, speaking during hands-off press demos in August 2026. He is essentially the only Rockstar employee on record about GTA 6. Nobody outside Rockstar has played it — every press “preview” was a demo with Nelson holding the controller.

On-record statements from Rob Nelson, August–September 2026.
SubjectWhat he said
Map sizeAbout three times Red Dead Redemption 2 — said out loud to press, never published. It is the only official reference point of any kind; no area or square-kilometre figure exists
LengthHis own playthrough was roughly 80 hours — main story plus some optional objectives with narrative consequences. Completed February 2026. The longest game Rockstar has made
Jason and LuciaThe relationship can be romantic or platonic, and affects the story and the ending. “They will remain partners in crime…whether they’re romantically close or not doesn’t change that”
Safehouses“probably closer to the camps in RDR2 than they are to safehouses in any GTA game before in terms of how interactive they are”
Driving“slightly more challenging”, needs “a bit of skill” — narrower streets, denser traffic. Real racing drivers were consulted
Scale1 September 2026: the game is now so large that no single person on the team knows all of it

Three flat commitments Rockstar has made about what the game will not contain: no microtransactions in single-player, no generative AI used in development, and no real-world political figures or COVID-19 references.

Reported as confirmed — but not

The do-not-believe list. Every row here is presented as fact somewhere prominent.
ClaimActual status
“The map is 2× GTA V” / “11× Los Santos”Not official. These ratios trace to a YouTuber relaying a conversation during a hands-off demo. The only on-record figure is Nelson’s ~3× RDR2
Mission count, story length in missionsNo figure of any kind has ever been given
Six-star wanted systemVisible in the footage and widely reported — but Rockstar has published no text about it. Write “shown”, not “confirmed”
Character switchingSame — clearly demonstrated on screen, never described in Rockstar text
GTA Online or any multiplayerNot announced, not confirmed to exist. Rockstar’s only word is “a single-player experience”
“32-player online”Surfaced in an employment tribunal filing describing what dismissed staff discussed privately. Rockstar called game features “the most closely guarded secrets of the company”. It confirms nothing
A PC versionNever announced. No date, no acknowledgement. All 2027/2028 reporting is speculation
Heists as a named systemNothing stated or shown as a system
Property or business ownershipNot confirmed. Nelson said only that safehouses are more interactive
Pre-order sales numbersTake-Two has disclosed none. Every figure in circulation — 4.77M, $500M, 48M — is third-party estimation
“Captured on base PS5”Rockstar said “on the PlayStation 5”. The base-versus-Pro distinction is press inference
Collector’s EditionLeaked packaging images only. Rockstar has announced Standard and Ultimate
Soundtrack and radio stationsNothing announced. Every list circulating is leak- or rumour-based
A video called “Trailer 3”Does not exist. The third video is “An Extended Look”

A sourcing warning worth passing on

While researching this page we found several university domains serving SEO-spam “GTA 6 leaked gameplay” pages with fabricated content — compromised or parked subdomains, not research. A .edu address is not a credibility signal on this subject. Neither is a confident tone: the single most reliable tell is whether a page says where a number came from.

06Common questions

When does GTA 6 come out?
19 November 2026 digitally. Physical copies arrive a week earlier, on 12 November, containing a download code rather than a disc. Digital pre-load also opens on the 12th.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
No PC version has been announced. Rockstar lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no date, no acknowledgement and no roadmap — all 2027 and 2028 reporting is speculation.
Will GTA 6 have an online mode?
Not announced. Rockstar’s only official description of the product is “a single-player experience”. The “32-player” figure circulating came from an employment tribunal filing, not from Rockstar.
How big is the GTA 6 map?
The only official comparison is Rob Nelson’s: about three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2. The widely quoted “2× GTA V” and “11× Los Santos” figures are not official.
How long is GTA 6?
Rob Nelson said his own playthrough took roughly 80 hours — main story plus some optional objectives — and called it the longest game Rockstar has made. No mission count has ever been given.
How much does GTA 6 cost?
$79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Any purchase before 20 November 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack.
