GTA 6 on PC: What Is Known and What Is Rumour

The official position, in full
This is the entire confirmed record
GTA 6 launches 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC version has been announced. Rockstar’s product page lists no PC platform at all — not “coming later”, not “TBA”, nothing. There is no date, no acknowledgement and no roadmap.
The only adjacent statement on record is from Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick, who said the console-first staging is “purely a Rockstar creative and strategic call, not the result of any platform exclusivity agreement” — explicitly denying that a deal with Sony drives it.
The Extended Look, twenty-seven minutes of gameplay with a global Netflix premiere and a full press cycle, contained no PC mention either. PC Gamer’s live coverage: “frustratingly still no PC release date”.
What is rumour, and what it is worth
| Claim | Status |
|---|---|
| “PC version in early 2027” | Reporting, not an announcement. Sourced to industry outlets, never to Rockstar |
| “Sooner than expected” | Same — a report about expectations, not a date |
| GTA 6 PC system requirements | Every one of these articles is a prediction. Rockstar has published none, because there is no announced product to publish them for |
| “Sony paid for exclusivity” | Explicitly denied by Take-Two’s CEO |
| Steam or Epic store listings | None exist |
The one thing that is defensible is a pattern rather than a promise: Rockstar’s PC ports have historically followed roughly a year after console. GTA V shipped on consoles in September 2013 and on PC in April 2015 — about eighteen months. Red Dead Redemption 2 shipped in October 2018 and reached PC in November 2019 — about thirteen months. A pattern is not a commitment, and the two examples above differ by five months.
What this means if you play on PC
Practically: GTA V remains the current Grand Theft Auto on PC for the foreseeable future, and the decisions around it are not a stopgap until November — they are the decisions that carry you through to whenever a VI port actually appears.
- The Enhanced-or-Legacy question is still live, and matters more now than it did. Our Mods & Specs guide covers the official requirements for both builds, what ray tracing really costs in frames, and which build the modding scene targets
- GTA Online is not competing with anything on PC in November. Take-Two has said it expects to keep supporting it, and GTA 6 has no announced online mode on any platform. Our GTA Online money guide is current to Title Update 1.73
- FiveM is unaffected. Rockstar owns it, and it targets GTA V. Nothing about GTA 6 changes the roleplay ecosystem
One honest caveat about upgrade advice
You will find a lot of “build a PC for GTA 6” content right now. It is all guesswork — there are no requirements to build against. If you are upgrading, upgrade for what you play today. Buying hardware against an unannounced product with no specification is how people end up with the wrong parts a year early.
